About Us

Brief Background Ban'tikar Arts Organization

Ban’tikar Arts is an African Organisation, with interest in using arts for human development. It is a duly registered apolitical, non-profit and non denominational organisation in Cameroon, with headquarters in Buea. Since 2008, Ban’tikar Arts has consistently organised yearly workshops and events for kids and adults. These include the six-week Kids’ arts workshop from July to August of each year and the weekend programme in music.

Music

Music is intended to help the mentee continuously develop a profound appreciation for music. We introduce the mentee to the nature of sound, analysis of sound, what makes sense and what may not, contemporary uses of sound, music as an art and it's various crafts, words/lyrics and sound, pitch and rhythm, voice, and instruments, ensuring that each mentee brings his personal appeal in the expression of music; whether as doing a cover or completely creating a new piece.

Dance

The objective of Ban’tikar Arts dance curriculum is to guide students in developing their artistic expression, creativity, and responsible approach to dance as an art form. Through mentorship and practical workshops, students will learn to build original choreographies that reflect their personal growth and character development.

Acting and Public Speaking

The objective of Ban’tiikar Arts acting and public speaking curriculum is to guide mentees in developing a strong sense of personal character, confidence, and responsible self-expression. Through mentorship and practical workshops, students will learn to build a unique and relevant acting and public speaking style that reflects their personal growth and values.

Photography

The objective of Ban’tikar Arts curriculum for artistic photography is to guide mentees in developing a responsible and artistically expressive approach to image-making. Through mentorship and practical workshops, mentees will learn to do situational analysis as a basis of conceiving, framing, capturing and projecting photographs that foster a sense of community, provoke and sustain positive change and ultimately promote virtuous values.

Painting

The objective of Ban’tikar Curriculum for visual arts is to guide learners in developing a responsible and artistically expressive approach to sculpturing, drawing, painting, and crafting. Through mentorship and practical workshops, learners will learn to engage in situational analysis, conceive, frame, and create visuals that foster a sense of community, support positive change, and promote virtuous values.

Culinary Arts

The primary aim of this educational initiative is to introduce children to the principles and practices of healthy living, with a particular focus on the central role of plants, kitchen (extends to packaged foods on shop counters) and nutrition. By empowering children with the knowledge and skills to prepare nutritious meals and develop sustainable eating habits, the program seeks to optimize their overall productivity, well-being, and positive contributions to society.

Culture Education

The objective of Ban’tikar Arts curriculum for culture education is to guide mentees in developing a responsible and artistically expressive approach to understanding and interpreting cultural signs, symbols, and expressions, with a focus on traditional African philosophies, spirituality and identity. Through mentorship and practical workshops, mentees will learn to engage in situational analysis, unpack hidden messages and undertones, and use this knowledge to cultivate a strong African personality and promote virtuous values within their communities.
